SARAJEVO, (Patria) - On this day 20 years ago, one of the most memorable successes in the history of BiH sports since the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina was achieved.
The legendary match between BiH and Croatia within the qualifications for the European Championship, which was held in France in 1999, took place on November 29, 1997, and Nenad Marković played arguably his best game in the national team jersey.
In a packed Skenderija, BiH hosted Croatia and ultimately celebrated with a 74:67 victory, with Nenad Marković scoring almost half of the points for the home team.
The legendary number 4 finished the game with 30 points, and what remained memorable was that he scored almost every time the 'score was tight'. And with such ease!
His popular statement after the match also remained memorable, when he modestly said:
"This will never happen again, I am delighted, I don't know what to say," Marković said at the time.
Another legend of BiH basketball, Gordan Firić, added 19 points in this game, while on the other side, in the Croatian national team, Veljko Mršić was the most effective with 27 points.
