22 years ago I took my daughter to a protest against Milošević, now she takes me to a protest against Vučić

(Patria) -  Thousands of people have been protesting against the regime of Aleksandar Vučić in Serbia for several weekends.

Several world media reported on the protest „One of Five Million“, held on Saturday evening in Belgrade, describing Vučić as an ultranationalist extremist who became a pro-European centrist, reminding that Vučić is accused of suppressing the media and civil society.

AFP states that the movement against Vučić has gained strength and that on the fourth consecutive Saturday, around 25,000 people marched against the President of Serbia.

A large number of public figures, such as journalists and actors, also come to the protests in Belgrade.

„Is this for laughing or crying? 22 years ago I took my daughter to a protest against Milošević. Now she came to Belgrade and took me to a protest against Vučić“ wrote on Twitter the editor-in-chief of the magazine „Nova ekonomija“ Biljana Stepanović.

„Vučić will try to take over the protests, that is, to try to redirect that blow towards himself to something that bothers him“, wrote BIRN editor Slobodan Georgijev.

„A handful of people who really don't like you, Aleksandar Vučić“, wrote actor Nikola Kojo alongside a photo of several thousand people protesting on the streets of Belgrade.

At the same time, while citizens in Belgrade are protesting against the regime of Aleksandar Vučić, thousands of citizens of Banja Luka and Sarajevo are seeking the truth about the deaths of two young men, David Dragičević and Dženan Memić, who were killed but the authorities have never revealed their killers.

„In the same way, citizens of Banja Luka, citizens of Sarajevo, citizens of Belgrade and Skopje are eager for life... That is why the protests are existential. One and the same generation does not want to leave politics, and they are ready to use terror in that struggle of theirs“, recently said Banja Luka journalist and editor of the portal Buka, Aleksandar Trifunović. He notes that in the processes that have engulfed the region, "it is very important that free media share information across former republican borders, now state borders."
