(Patria) - The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković announced at the beginning of today's session that HDZ Member of Parliament Hrvoje Šimić has passed away.
- This is news we received with disbelief because nothing indicated it. He was only 51 years old - said Jandroković.
Members of Parliament began the session with a minute of silence for their deceased colleague.
Hrvoje Šimić was born in 1972 in Našice. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb, and then returned to Našice, where he held a number of positions.
He was the director of the county hospital, a city councilor, deputy mayor, and a doctor and board member of the handball club Nexe.
In the 2020 elections, he was elected to the Croatian Parliament.
