BiH Presidency unanimously adopts report of the Commission for the Border between BiH and Serbia

(Patria) - At today's session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a proposal regarding the report of the State Commission for the Border of BiH was adopted.

The decision was adopted unanimously, and it concerns a proposal by member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović, who believes that the issue of demarcation with neighbors is one of the most important for BiH.

Bećirović proposed that the report of the State Commission for the Border of BiH be considered, regarding the state demarcation between BiH and Serbia, with a proposal for specific conclusions.

One of the open bilateral issues in relations between BiH and the Republic of Serbia concerns the regulation of the interstate border, i.e., the signing of the Agreement on the State Border.

The contractual regulation of the state border issue was a topic of discussion at the highest political level, but there were no meetings of the authorized border commissions of the two states in their last two terms.

The signing of the Agreement on the State Border between BiH and the Republic of Serbia would, as stated, „enable the demarcation of the state border between the two countries and confirm that good neighborly relations and regional cooperation are key elements of the stabilization and association process“.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković attended part of today's session of the BiH Presidency regarding this issue, and he will be on an official visit to Serbia on Wednesday evening and Thursday.

He also discussed with members of the BiH Presidency problems in the DKP network, the opening of a Serbian consulate in Bijeljina, and the opening of BiH embassies in several other countries.
