SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Protocol on determining the trilateral border point between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia was signed today in Sarajevo, and it was signed by Adil Osmanović, Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dragan Pejanović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro, and Veljko Odalović, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
Minister Osmanović said that the signed protocol is a big step in resolving border disputes among the countries of the region, as well as in marking the state border of BiH.
"This is a step forward in regulating the border of BiH. Every such step taken through bilateral and multilateral responses contributes to better cooperation between the countries in the region. The signing of this protocol is a step forward on the path to the EU for all three countries, because the European Commission clearly emphasized in its new strategy for the Western Balkans that resolving border disputes is one of the conditions," said Osmanović.
Odalović emphasized that Serbia is committed to resolving border demarcation and that it is the obligation of all those who represent their countries, as resolving border issues will facilitate the lives of citizens.
There are four disputed points between BiH and Serbia: Zvornik Hydroelectric Power Plant, Bajina Bašta Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Belgrade-Bar railway, and the Municipality of Priboj. BiH and Montenegro signed a border agreement in Vienna on August 25, 2015, and commissions are now intensively working on the implementation of that international treaty.
The trilateral border point between BiH, Serbia, and Montenegro will be marked at the tripoint of the cadastral municipalities of Đakovići/Zaborak (BiH), Sočica (Serbia), and Povlače (Montenegro) and is located at a place called Zelena Glava. It will be marked on the ground by placing an appropriate trilateral border marker, which will be financed equally by all three countries. The three largest cities near the tripoint are Čajniče (BiH), Priboj (Serbia), and Pljevlja (Montenegro).
