Messages in Novi Sad: I am ashamed, denial of genocide is a strategy of state institutions

At several locations in Novi Sad, flyers appeared, glued to facades on the occasion of marking 28 years since the genocide in Srebrenica.

The flyers contain the sentences: "Genocide is a crime of the state and its institutions" and "Denial of genocide is a strategy of the state and its institutions".

The signature reads: "I am ashamed/ Srebrenica July 11, 1995-2023".

A commemoration was held today at the Memorial Center in Potočari on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, which was committed by Serbian forces against the Bosniak population in the then UN-protected "safe area" in July 1995.

For the genocide and crimes in Srebrenica, more than 50 individuals have been sentenced to over 700 years in prison before the Hague Tribunal and courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina to date.
