Croatian President's Message: BiH Should Already Be in NATO and the EU

In her diary about several days spent privately in several Herzegovinian towns, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović wrote that this country deserves progress and peace, and for that it is necessary to create not only economic and political conditions, but also spiritual ones, to encourage life at every step, to build peace and community, to encourage, above all, young people to fight for a better future for all, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the diary published by today's Večernji list, Grabar-Kitarović talks about visits to Međugorje, Široki Brijeg, Mostar, Kupres, Prozor-Rama, Ljubuški and the meetings she had in these towns.

 

- I promise myself that I will continue to do everything to achieve full equality for Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They deserve it not only as its constituent and historically original people, but also as a people who made an exceptional contribution to its defense and survival in the 1990s, and today they are a firm support for its justified Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

If there had been will in the so-called centers of power, Bosnia and Herzegovina could and should have already been a member of NATO and the EU. Croatia will strongly support it in this, because Bosnia and Herzegovina is more than a neighbor to us.

Anyone who comes here with an open heart and mind will understand how close, sisterly countries Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are, in many ways dependent on each other," Grabar-Kitarović concludes in her diary.
