Census as a pretext for a visit to Belgrade, Ivanić seeks help to save RS

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanić was in Belgrade with the top officials of Serbia; Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and President Tomislav Nikolić.

The former leader of the PDP told journalists in Belgrade, with concern, that he conveyed to his Serbian colleagues his views on the significantly deteriorated political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the last month or two.

The most difficult situation in BiH, according to Ivanić, is, of course, for the Serbs. Everything went wrong with unnecessary rhetoric from a number of religious leaders, continued with the same rhetoric from politicians in the Federation of BiH, and ended, as Ivanić put it, with "the deception by Izetbegović and Čović regarding the Decision to publish the census results."

It is hard to believe that these three facts alone prompted Ivanić to travel to Belgrade. Besides the fact that the story of the endangerment of the Serbian people and Republika Srpska will bring him certain political points, sorely needed before the local elections in October, there is another hidden and real reason for Ivanić's consultations in Belgrade.

At the same time as Ivanić, Milorad Dodik was also in Belgrade. Although they were received separately in Belgrade, they spun the same story: the endangerment of Republika Srpska. Their hosts, Vučić and Nikolić, probably gave repeated answers as well.

First of all, it could be said that Ivanić and Dodik traveled to Belgrade because of the approaching date when the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH to abolish the marking of January 9, which is celebrated in Banja Luka as the Day of Republika Srpska, will come into force.

This was a decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH following an appeal by Bakir Izetbegović. It is one of the biggest blows to Serbian politicians in the last 20-odd years. The decision will come into force by the end of this month.

Why is January 9 important to both the authorities and the opposition from Republika Srpska, and why will they try in every possible way to delay the implementation of the Decision?

The abolition of January 9 disrupts the thesis about the continuity of Republika Srpska. The authorities from this BiH entity impose a completely senseless and sick theory that Bosnia and Herzegovina was created in Dayton, by merging Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH. Therefore, it should not be surprising that, as the end of June approaches, both the tensions and the stories about the endangerment of the Serbian people will become more intense. And, the story about a referendum will also be activated. Because, it will not be easy to explain to citizens in this part of BiH how the theory of the unfathomable superiority of Republika Srpska over Bosnia and Herzegovina was destroyed overnight.

The world and the US Congress are demanding Dayton 2. The verdict against Karadžić for extermination and genocide has opened these questions completely. Can an entity created through genocide, serious crimes, and ethnic cleansing exist under international law?

A space where there are no others or different people, not even for show. The leaders of that entity unfortunately boasted about this fact. What was once praiseworthy is now a cause for open weeping in Belgrade.

If the region can be encouraged by anything from the Belgrade meeting, it is the messages of Prime Minister Vučić, who said that he will take care of the Serbs in BiH. Previously, Vučić only cared about the Serbs from RS. For the first time, he cares about Serbs from all of BiH. There is progress, at least in Vučić's rhetoric.
