Police to provide security for all schools in Serbia from September 1

(Patria) - Police will provide security for all schools in Serbia from September 1, and police officers will be present before, during classes and after the end of lessons in both shifts, the Ministry of Education of Serbia announced.

In addition to school yards, police patrols will be reinforced near schools, and they will also control and regulate traffic safety, it was announced after a working meeting held today by representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia.

As stated, heads of police and school administrations, as well as school principals and police station chiefs, are intensively working on analyzing the security situation in order to assess the situation and take joint measures to raise the safety of students and employees to the highest possible level.

The meeting also discussed the project "Together and Safely Through Childhood," which will be jointly implemented in primary schools in the upcoming school year by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia.

The goal of the project is to raise students' awareness of the consequences of violent behavior in real and virtual environments, recognize different forms of violence and discrimination, adopt strategies for helping others in need and skills for non-violent conflict resolution, develop empathy, and inform about ways of help, support, and protection, as well as acquire knowledge and skills about safe participation in traffic and behavior in emergency situations.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education thanked the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their cooperation and support in ensuring the safety of students and employees in schools.
