Police to secure all schools in Serbia

(Patria) - Representatives of the Ministries of Education and Internal Affairs of Serbia held a working meeting today regarding the start of the new school year.

It was emphasized that the police will secure all schools in Serbia from September 1st and that police officers will be present before, during, and after classes in both shifts.

In addition to schoolyards, police patrols will be increased near schools, and they will control and regulate traffic safety.

Heads of police and school administrations, as well as school principals and police station chiefs, are intensively working on analyzing the security situation to assess the situation and take joint measures to raise the security of students and employees to the highest possible level.

The meeting also discussed the project "Together and Safely Through Childhood," which will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in primary schools during the 2023/2024 school year.

The project will be implemented with the aim of raising students' awareness of the consequences of violent behavior in real and virtual environments, recognizing different forms of violence and discrimination, adopting strategies for helping others in need and skills for non-violent conflict resolution, developing empathy and informing about ways of help, support, and protection, as well as acquiring knowledge and skills about safe participation in traffic and behavior in emergency situations.
