Support from colleagues in BiH for Croatian journalist Gordan Duhaček

ZAGREB/SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The journalist from the portal Index from Zagreb, who was detained by Croatian police on Monday morning, received support from colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who signed a petition after his arrest.

Index reported that journalist and columnist Gordan Duhaček was found guilty at the Misdemeanor Court in Novi Zagreb for two posts on Twitter. For insulting the police, specifically for the tweet in which he wrote the abbreviation ACAB, Duhaček was fined 200 marks (754 kuna). The verdict for the song 'Govna Velebita' will be announced in three days.

"It was very bizarre. I was supposed to fly to Germany, I was taken aside at Pleso, and then it turned out that there were these charges. I waited there for about an hour, an hour and a half," said Duhaček.

“They dragged me from the airport to Trešnjevka police station, and then locked me in a cell. That's when I realized I had been arrested, and no one had told me anything about it,” added Duhaček. 

"They are charging me for a tweet that says ACAB. And the second thing, I am charged because, as a joke, I satirically published a version of Vila Velebita that refers to feces being discharged into the Adriatic. I am accused of offending the moral feelings of citizens, they were offended by the adaptation of an old song that no one sings," said Duhaček.

He stated that Croatia has become a country where 'if you shout ACAB, the prime minister's dad, or HDZ thieves, you end up behind bars', said Duhaček.
