PODGORICA Rally Concluded: Think, Montenegro, Do You Need the Freedom of Dragoljub Mihailović!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The gathering of civic and patriotic Montenegro in Podgorica ended tonight shortly after 8 PM, with the singing of the Montenegrin national anthem and the lighting of tens of thousands of torches. 

The gathering was organized by patriotic and civic associations, as a response to the rampage and riots following the parliamentary elections.

At the end, it was conveyed that Montenegrins, with a magnificent, dignified, and peaceful gathering, showed what kind of Montenegro they want. 

Girl Amina Brahić from Pljevlja stated that Bosniaks experienced more attacks in Pljevlja after the elections, but that they feel safe under the flag of Montenegro.

"They say a black bird is hovering over us. I answer them from this place: the only bird flying above Montenegro is the freedom falcon. The only banner is this red flag, and our only anthem is 'Oj svijetla majska zoro'. Montenegro is our mother," added Brahić.

The Police Directorate announced that about 50,000 citizens attended the gathering and that everything passed without incidents.

That is what the wolves from the mountains are telling you, Montenegro, said Montenegrin intellectual and former president of the youth LSCG, Peđa Vušurović, with the message "Montenegro has had its fill of Chetnik freedom."

"Think, Montenegro, do you need the freedom of Colonel Dragoljub Mihailović," he added.

19.30 Let us all take masks, that is important to us, and show how different we are, was conveyed from the stage. 

"Montenegro of 10 centuries is looking at you. Will it be after him, has it also fallen with him. No, Montenegro existed before him and will exist after him," was conveyed from the podium. 

Those gathered responded with "we won't give up the state, the state" and "this is not Serbia."

19.00 At Independence Square in Podgorica at 7 PM, the patriotic gathering began, attended by thousands of citizens from all over Montenegro.

 

As stated by the organizers - Montenegrin patriotic organizations, this is a patriotic gathering for the defense of civic and European Montenegro.

"Freedom that returned us to the nineties, freedom in outbursts of national and religious hatred, freedom of threats to those who do not march in the orthodox line! Freedom in which those who wave the flag of Montenegro have become targets for elimination," they said today in a statement.

 

From those organizations, they stated that they cannot turn a blind eye and remain silent in the face of the awakening of clerical fascism and threats "to the survival of the only country we have." They emphasized that they are not brought together by any party, religion, or nation, but by the need to raise a voice in defense of our only true sanctuary – an independent, civic, secular, multicultural, and anti-fascist Montenegro.
