Croatian Government Session Begins: How Will Ministers Declare Themselves?

Today at 10 AM, a telephone session of the Government begins, where all ministers will have to declare themselves on the dismissal of the First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko, reports Croatian Jutarnji, as relayed by the Patria News Agency.

As this is a telephone session, ministers will be called one by one, either by the Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković, or by the Government Secretary-General on his behalf. Ministers have already received the materials with the dismissal proposal in advance, and they will declare themselves by stating whether they agree or not. For the decision to be valid, it must be supported by an absolute majority of ministers, and if the votes are divided, the Prime Minister decides. After the Secretary-General collects all the votes, the Prime Minister signs the decision, and such a decision is sent to the Parliament.

This decision must include the reasoning for rejecting or accepting the proposal. After that, the Government will send a press release to the media with the decision sent to the Parliament, but they do not have to state the number of votes by which the proposal was rejected or accepted.

However, the public will be aware of the voting results, according to Jutarnji's report.
