Plenković called on the international community to stop the referendum in RS

HDZ President Andrej Plenković called on the international community to stop the referendum announced by the entity authorities of Republika Srpska. In an interview for Večernji list, he said that Croatia's strategic interest is a stable BiH that is progressing towards the European Union, as well as "improving the position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

For this reason, Plenković also called Zoran Milanović's statement as president of SDP, that BiH is not a state, harmful.
"This (Milanović's) statement harms relations between the two countries, and especially the interests of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Plenković said in an interview for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian edition of Večernji list on Saturday.

Plenković also stated that the rights of Croats and the existence of the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina are the number one strategic foreign policy issue for Croatia. He said that BiH must become a functional state, while ensuring full equality of all three constituent peoples. Therefore, Plenković believes that constitutional reform is necessary, "which will be based on the principles of federalism, decentralization, subsidiarity and legitimate representation".

Regarding the referendum in RS, Plenković said that there is no doubt that the peace and stability of the entire region are at stake, because it is not excluded, as he said, that the referendum in September will serve as a prelude to the referendum on the secession of Republika Srpska.

He emphasized that the Republic of Croatia will closely monitor the developments surrounding the referendum and will undertake everything to "protect the rights of the Croatian people" even in these circumstances.

Plenković called the indictments against Croatian soldiers with qualifications of Croatia's aggression against BiH politically motivated and a falsification of history, and announced countermeasures.
