Plenković lobbied Macron for changes to BiH Election Law based on Čović's model

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Following today's meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković addressed reporters, and when asked if he spoke with Macron about the constitutional situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Plenković answered affirmatively.

"We also discussed the formation of the Council of Ministers in Bosnia and Herzegovina 14 months after the elections. Our position is well-known, we want to help Bosnia and Herzegovina, its European path, as well as other countries in Southeast Europe. Likewise, we want all three constituent peoples to be fully equal, which certainly requires adequate reform of the electoral legislation. This has been Croatia's position for a long time, and we believe that the current situation should be improved, that is our unified stance," said Plenković, according to the official website of the Government of Croatia.

It is evident that Plenković, as Prime Minister and leader of HDZ Croatia, continues to interfere in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and lobby for changes to the Election Law based on the model of Dragan Čović, president of HDZ BiH. Although the European Union has long stated that this model is not acceptable, and in certain cases the European Court of Human Rights has confirmed this, the Croatian leadership does not cease its lobbying efforts. 

Plenković also discussed the Union's Multiannual Financial Framework, Brexit, the opening of negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, and relations in the Middle East with Macron.
