Plenković and his team overwhelmingly won party elections

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Andrej Plenković defeated Miro Kovač in the elections for the president of HDZ, and other members of his team entered the party leadership, Croatian media reported.

"This is the narrowest party leadership. People who are special in their own way, not necessarily that we all think the same about everything, but what is important is that we share the same values, the same direction of development for HDZ and Croatia. I believe that with such strong support from the membership for the party's direction, we will successfully lead the party to victory in the parliamentary elections," said the president of HDZ and Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković after the election headquarters announced the results of the internal party elections, reports Jutarnji list.

Plenković's entire team "Bold for Croatia" won the elections.

80 percent of HDZ members voted for Plenković's new mandate at the head of the party (20 percent for Miro Kovač), while the Minister of Veterans Tomo Medved convincingly defeated the Mayor of Vukovar Ivan Penava in the elections for the deputy president of the party. Medved received 72 percent of the votes, and Penava 28 percent.

Plenković's people were also elected to all vice-presidential positions.

Minister of Transport Oleg Butković received 19 percent of the votes, Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Ivan Anušić 17 percent, President of the HDZ Parliamentary Group Branko Bačić also 17 percent, and Zdravka Bušić 14 percent.
