Pilav: In the last 24 hours, 65 tested in Sarajevo Canton, two positive for COVID-19

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Of the 65 patients tested for coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Sarajevo Canton, two were positive, announced at today's press conference the president of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, Aida Pilav.

“There are 15 hospitalized persons in the isolation ward at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, one person is on a ventilator. Two persons were discharged from the isolation ward, so the total number of recovered in Sarajevo Canton is five,” according to data presented by Pilav.

In Sarajevo Canton, there are currently 48 active home isolation orders.

“From January 30 until today, a total of 1,217 people have been tested in Sarajevo Canton, cumulatively 66 persons have been laboratory confirmed, of which six were retested. This data on retested individuals indicates that these are our fellow citizens who are in the recovery phase, meaning that the number of new laboratory confirmed cases is smaller,” explained Pilav.

Given that in the coming days and months a series of religious holidays follow (Catholic Easter, Orthodox Easter, and the Islamic month of fasting Ramadan), the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton called on citizens to limit all movement, and it is recommended to reduce contacts to a minimum.

Along with the call for citizens to continue adhering to recommended measures and orders, considering the religious holidays of Easter and Orthodox Easter, and the Islamic month of fasting Ramadan, Pilav stated: “For all of us in this global pandemic crisis, the primary goal is the protection of public health, and thus maintaining the currently stable epidemiological situation in the Canton with a relatively small number of infected.”
