Pilav on clusters in Sarajevo: We are starting contact tracing and already talking about an epidemic

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Aida Pilav, president of the KS Crisis Staff, said that three clusters have appeared in KS in the last 48 hours. Of the nine coronavirus cases, one is a fatal case in which coronavirus was confirmed after death.

"Clustering means that all contacts within that group must be reached, surveys are taken, and they are placed under health surveillance. Their family doctors are in constant contact and monitor their condition. We will fully follow the WHO strategy according to the size of the problem occurring in the FBiH, more precisely in KS. We will certainly start contact tracing to see the picture of the epidemic's spread. We are talking about an epidemic in KS," said Pilav.

She emphasized that clear algorithms have been established for taking tests, and that home swabbing will be performed.

Pilav pointed out that after the fatal case of a woman in Ilidža, the company was ordered closed and 23 people are in self-isolation.

"Of course, there will be testing in the coming period, and you will be informed about it," said Pilav.

She added that the introduction of a curfew is nothing more than the isolation of all of us.

"I appeal to avoid home gatherings," said Pilav.

Mehmed Kulić, director of the KS Health Center JU, said that regarding the fatal case of the patient in Ilidža, all statements from doctors and relevant indicators were taken, showing that the patient was not neglected.

"They provided adequate therapy, there were no omissions, except that the epidemiological statement showed no connection of the patient with Covid 19. She was treated for respiratory problems and some bacterial infection was found. If there are any medical omissions, everyone will bear the consequences," said Kulić.

Health center teams are taking swabs and we are starting to test according to the new strategy of increased testing of all contacts.

"We have enough protective equipment for this period, we are constantly procuring new ones, we have domestic manufacturers, and I think we will not reach a situation where we do not have enough," said Kulić.
