Pehar: So far, 6,174 people tested in FBiH, most infected in Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - By this address, a total of 6,174 people have been tested in the Federation of BiH, and we have 588 positive for COVID-19, among whom there are slightly more women, said Davor Pehar, member of the Federal Civil Protection Staff and Director of the Public Health Institute of FBiH, at a regular press conference.

"The largest number of positive cases by numbers is in Herzegovina, a total of 271, i.e., 202 in HNK and 68 in ZHK. Čitluk has the largest number of confirmed cases with 74, Mostar 66, Sarajevo 52, Tuzla 49, and Široki Brijeg 48," added Pehar.

According to him, 374 people were tested in FBiH in the past 24 hours, and 27 cases were confirmed.

In FBiH, he says, there are 63 patients in hospital, 526 people are active, and 38 have recovered.

"We expect the number of recovered people to increase. Of the 24 confirmed deaths in FBiH, 11 are women and 13 are men. By age group, two-thirds are over 65 years old," said Pehar.

When asked if the presence of healthcare workers in tents at border crossings was secured, he stated that their presence at border crossings is not mandatory since April 10, because sanitary inspectors compile lists at the border, and those awaiting quarantine are assigned according to their place of residence where they are taken to quarantine.

Regarding the health status of residents in nursing homes, Pehar says that apart from the case of the home where religious workers are accommodated in Čitluk, no similar case has occurred so far.

"We set a goal to prevent the virus from entering such institutions and hospitals. Epidemiologists visited the institutions in Pazarić, Hum, and Ljubuški on Friday, and today they visited Bakovići and Fojnica. Institutions housing groups of social cases must ensure the safety of their residents," said Pehar.
