Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Paris today to seek an explanation as to why the EU has not opened chapters 23 and 24 with Serbia, writes the Serbian newspaper Blic, reports NAP.
Vučić will discuss European integration and reforms that Serbia is implementing on its European path with Merkel, but will also seek an explanation as to why negotiating chapters 23 and 24 were not opened last week, as planned and expected.
The source of the newspaper states that the fact that the chapters were not opened and that this task will be postponed until July or September has left almost no one in European circles, nor representatives of member states, indifferent, as everyone hoped for the opposite scenario.
Some countries tried their best for this to happen on June 30, above all the Netherlands, but Germany was not indifferent either. Therefore, this will be one of the very important topics, stated Blic's source.
Before leaving for the Summit on the Western Balkans, which is being held in Paris as part of the Berlin Process initiated by Merkel, Vučić said that he would seek an explanation from the heads of government of EU member states, clear and concrete answers to the question of why chapters 23 and 24 for EU membership were not opened for Serbia, according to Blic's report.
