Paraglider from Croatia crashed on Plješevica: GSS Bihać members successfully rescued the pilot

Last night at 5 PM, GSS Bihać received a notification that a paraglider pilot had a mishap landing in the Plješevica mountain area, reports the Patria News Agency.

The paraglider pilot was in the company of several friends and pilots. Around 1 PM, he took off from the Bjelopolje takeoff point near Korenica using a Team 5 paragliding aircraft.

After several hours of flying, due to strong winds, he drifted to the northern side of the hill, i.e., to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to strong air currents, he lost control, began to fall, and deployed his reserve parachute.

- The pilot himself contacted the duty services in Bihać and requested assistance. GSS Station Bihać, with the help of the paragliding team from Bihać, managed to establish contact with the injured person using a radio station. After talking with the injured person and his description of what he could see, the GSS team found the approximate location of the paraglider crash. After locating and finding the paraglider, we safely brought the injured person down from the treetop and provided him with the necessary assistance, say GSS Bihać.

After the GSS team, the injured person was taken over by the BiH Border Police for registration of crossing the border area, which officially concluded the rescue operation.

In addition to 5 GSS members, a BiH Border Police team and two paraglider pilots from Bihać were on the ground. The BiH Armed Forces Helicopter team and nearby GSS teams from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia GSS stations were on standby.
