COMMENTARY: Why is Nikšić silent on Konaković's intention to change laws in BiH with the Croatian Government!

Written by: A.Čorbo-Zećo

If you were a serious Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, you would not speak in a neighbouring country about discussing BiH's internal issues at a joint session of two governments!? And, frankly, Konaković is far from serious.

And it was precisely Elmedin Konaković, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, who after meeting with Gordan Grlić Radman stated that he intends to discuss amendments to the Election Law of BiH with the Croatian Government!

When he saw the extent of the harmfulness of such statements, which he made answering a question from an HRT journalist, an offensive towards BiH media began. Konaković thus gave a subsequent statement to Klix in which he says he told Plenković and Radmanović that the election law will be resolved in BiH! And no one believed him!

As if the state were a toy, so Konaković can fix a lost game in the second round! As if the BiH public has not already heard what he precisely said:

“It is planned that by the joint session scheduled for the sixth month, we resolve some of these issues. Among them is the issue of amendments to the Constitution and the Election Law.”

But, even stranger in all this is the silence of Nermin Nikšić, the president of the SDP, who does not react to Konaković's announcements that he will change BiH laws with the Croatian Government.

Once upon a time, the good old Nikšić used to tell the authorities in Croatia that “instead of focusing on implementing the decision of their Constitutional Court, gentlemen Milanović, Plenković and company are shedding crocodile tears over the alleged non-implementation of the Constitutional Court decision in BiH, which has long since been implemented.”

Today, it seems that he too has come to terms with the fact that it is obviously much easier for the neighbours to bring unrest, radicalise relations and threaten to disrupt the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus diverting public attention in Croatia from the everyday problems their citizens face.

Konaković forgot that members of the Croatian Government have no voting rights in the Parliament of BiH, and until now, their wishes were fulfilled by High Representative Christian Schmidt, who, by imposing decisions on 2 October, shackled BiH in ethnic divisions!

Therefore, it is surprising that Nikšić remained silent on Konaković's announcements, because whoever agrees to the implementation of policies of other states' governments in BiH and supports such an approach denies the Constitution of BiH.

Policy on the internal affairs of the state of BiH is conducted in BiH, not in Zagreb or Belgrade, but it is difficult to implement this now when even in the agreement on forming the government, they did not set red lines below which they must not go.
