Nothing left of the BMW: Horrific accident in Croatia, mother and daughter killed

(Patria) - Two people were killed and three seriously injured in a horrific traffic accident that occurred last night on the A3 motorway near Nova Gradiška in Croatia, reports the Brod-Posavina Police Department.

The accident happened around 10:55 PM, on the southbound lane of the A3 motorway, near Nova Gradiška, and involved a truck and a BMW.

The BMW, with French license plates, was driven by a 40-year-old man from Turkey. He did not maintain sufficient distance between his car and the truck while driving, which led to the front of the BMW hitting the rear of the semi-trailer of an Austrian-registered truck, the police announced.

The truck was driven by a 62-year-old driver from Turkey.

In this traffic accident, two female passengers, a 43-year-old citizen of Turkey and a 19-year-old citizen of France, were fatally injured. The two were in the BMW, and Index.hr unofficially learns that they were mother and daughter.

The other two children from the same family, an 18-year-old female and a 15-year-old male (both citizens of France) from the same car, were seriously injured.

After receiving medical assistance, the injured were transported from the hospital in Nova Gradiška for further treatment to the KBC Osijek.

Their father, the injured driver of the BMW, was kept for treatment at the hospital in Nova Gradiška.

Police officers are continuing their work and will submit a criminal complaint to the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Slavonski Brod against the 40-year-old car driver on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of causing a traffic accident in road traffic, upon completion of their treatment.
