New "Serbia Against Violence" protest, large ring of citizens around RTS

(Patria) - A new "Serbia Against Violence" protest is scheduled for today, which will this time take the form of a large ring of citizens around RTS, organizers announced.

According to the statement, this will likely be the largest, or one of the largest public gatherings ever held in the country of Serbia.

"Due to the expected very large number of people and limited movement possibilities, the organizers have opted for a much shorter route this time, which will end with the formation of a ring around RTS," the statement noted.

The protest will begin in front of the National Assembly at 6 PM, and citizens will march along King Alexander Boulevard to the Faculty of Law, then turn left onto Belgrade Street, left onto Ilija Garašanin Street, and left again onto Takovska Street to RTS.

"We ask all citizens who, due to the large number of people, cannot complete the entire route, to spread out towards Tašmajdan Park, where another stage will be set up, thus forming a ring. In this way, we will all participate together in the mass ring around RTS and demand that the public service report accurately, impartially, and responsibly on the enormous problems of our society, mass murders, protests, and the demands of the protests, as well as the ways in which we, as a society, can overcome this tragedy. The protest will last until 10 PM," the organizers stated.

They are calling on citizens to bring a flower each and leave it in front of the National Assembly "so that we can show respect for the victims of the mass murders and compassion for the families and friends of the deceased."

"We ask all citizens to show the greatest possible responsibility towards the peaceful and non-violent nature of the protest. The regime has no response to this and would most like it if violence or an incident occurred. Due to the sensitivity of the moment in which the protest is taking place, the organizers call on all citizens to show an additional dose of responsibility and, in case of any provocations, to immediately distance themselves from the provocateurs, isolate them, and not allow them to manipulate the protest," they emphasized.

They also reminded of the protest demands:

"We demand the immediate cessation of the further promotion of violence in the media and public space, as well as accountability for the long-term inadequate response of the competent authorities, i.e., the dismissal of responsible ministers.

In order to stop the promotion of violence in public, we demand:

1) the revocation of national frequencies from television stations that are driving citizens crazy, poisoning them, and promoting violence, such as Pink and Happy TV,

2) the dismissal of all members of the REM Council, who, through their inaction, have allowed the unimpeded spread of hatred and violence,

3) the closure of print media and tabloids that publish fake news, fabrications, and continuously violate the journalistic code,

4) the dismissal of the RTS management,

5) the immediate abolition of programs that promote violence, immorality, and aggression on national television channels, such as reality shows."
