Nikšić Responds to Čović: If there is a Bosniak left, then there is also a Croat and Serb left!

Nermin Nikšić, president of SDP BiH, commented on the statement by Dragan Čović, president of HDZ BiH, who called SDP and DF a Bosniak left and said they help SDA in making some decisions.

That means there is also some Croat left or Serb left. We do not want to be classified in any national bloc in any way. As for SDP BiH, we have shown state-building and our attitude towards the state in several examples.

- We are neither a Bosniak, nor a Croat, nor a Serb left; we are a political party that wants to be a party for all of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to show that this is the case.

Nikšić also added that Čović gets carried away because of what his partner Mr. Izetbegović allows him and what his partners allow him.

- I don't know if SDA or Izetbegović ever said they won the elections. They are not interested in that; they want to be first among Bosniaks and in that way legitimize Čović as first among Croats. They can't quite legitimize whether it's the Alliance for Change or Dodik among Serbs.

The president of SDP BiH once again reiterated that the latest agreement signed by Milorad Dodik, president of Republika Srpska, and Izetbegović, with variations with Čović, shows that they are moving towards a three-entity division of BiH.

- We will oppose this. We are the left for all citizens of BiH and will do everything we can to be partners for all of us.

Nikšić also recalled 2010 when HDZ BiH representatives, after losing the elections, locked their offices, took the cars, and blocked the constitution of the House of Peoples and the government in FBiH.

- SDP had the legal possibility to block the constitution of the government. That did not cross our minds. It was precisely thanks to the signatures of SDP BiH delegates in the House of Peoples that the president and vice-presidents of FBiH were proposed. We did not vote for this government and this authority because we believe that this government is not in the interest of the citizens, but it is the electoral will of the citizens – says Nikšić.

Speaking about the voting of SDP deputies in Parliament, Nikšić said that they vote for everything that is in the interest of the citizens of BiH and do so at all levels and for all laws.

- We stopped at the moment when we asked the Government of FBiH to annul the shameful decision, i.e., the regulation on taxing meal allowances and vacation pay.
