It is unclear to anyone what the President of Slovenia deserved the "Isa-beg Ishaković" award for

The international award "Isa-beg Ishaković", which will be presented tomorrow to Slovenian President Borut Pahor during his visit to Sarajevo, has been degraded for many and almost has no value, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Amel Suljović from the Committee for the Awarding of the International Award "Isa-beg Ishaković" said that President Pahor and the Slovenian people are true friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was evident in the past few days when Slovenian helicopters rescued people in flooded cities of BiH, and that for this reason they deserved this award, which will be presented to Pahor tomorrow at the National Theatre in Sarajevo.

Patria agency sources said that they do not doubt the friendship and sincerity of President Pahor, but that the award bearing the name of the founder of Sarajevo has been degraded for a long time, as it has been awarded to people who did not deserve it, so this year's award going to the Slovenian statesman has no weight for many of them that it should have.

Admir Mulaosmanović, a Bosnian historian, told NAP that since this award was given to Goran Bregović, he no longer follows this event.

Prof. Dr. Husnija Kamberović also does not follow who the "Isa-beg Ishaković" award goes to.

- I don't want to say that President Pahor is not worthy of this award, but many awards have been degraded in our country. We don't pay attention to whom we give them. Perhaps some criteria should be set to know why someone receives this award, is it because he is the president of a country or because he has done something. Knowing that people who did not really deserve this award have received it before, I am not surprised by this with Pahor - Professor Kamberović told Patria.

The "Isa-beg Ishaković" award represents an independent, civic recognition, and is awarded in the fields of science, art, cultural heritage, sevdah, patriotism, and there is also the International Award "Isa-beg Ishaković" which is awarded separately.

The award was founded by the civic society for the protection of culture and cultural heritage of the city of Sarajevo "Klepsidra", and was established in 2007 in the capital of BiH.

The international award "Isa-beg Ishaković" was awarded last year to the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer.
