The official opening ceremony of the European Water Polo Championship, which will last until January 23, was held at Belgrade's Kombank Arena, and the act of declaring the championship open was marked by boos when President Tomislav Nikolić addressed the attendees, writes the BH News Agency Patria.
During Nikolić's address, the attendees booed, but Nikolić was not deterred and gave a short speech. When the Minister of Youth and Sports in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Vanja Udovičić, took the floor, he was initially met with applause, but when he mentioned the contributions of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and Belgrade Mayor Siniša Mali in a positive context, the booing was repeated.
