No Obstacles: Sakib Softić Has BiH Agent Mandate to Submit Request for Revision of Lawsuit Against Serbia!

Sakib Softić has the mandate to submit the request for revision of BiH's lawsuit against Serbia for genocide, and as an agent, to bring this process to an end. A new consent from all members of the BiH Presidency is not required for him to do so, writes Patria.  

Although the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Mladen Ivanić, has questioned the legitimacy and legality of the BiH agent's mandate on several occasions, and informed the International Court of Justice in The Hague by letter last May that there is no person in BiH who can initiate the lawsuit, information obtained by the Patria news agency indicates otherwise.

Softić was already notified at this court as an agent about ten years ago. Also, the request for revision itself can be signed and completed by a person who is not an agent.

This can be a BiH diplomatic representative in The Hague, or any other person representing BiH at an international level.

Member of the BiH Presidency, Bakir Izetbegović, announced that in the coming days he will discuss the revision of the lawsuit against Serbia with experts from various fields.

- In the next ten days, I will convene all experts, the academic community, and politically active individuals who have already contacted me to discuss the elements for the revision of the lawsuit, Izetbegović stated.

He emphasized that the lawsuit is not against the Serbian people or today's Serbia, and stated that it is "our obligation because of all the crimes that happened in the 90s in BiH".

All political representatives from RS, Serbia, and the member of the BiH Presidency, Dragan Čović, are against the revision of the lawsuit. The deadline for submitting the request for revision of the lawsuit expires at the end of this month.  

The verdict on the lawsuit of RBiH from 1993 was delivered in 2007. Serbia was found guilty as the first and only country in the world for violating the Genocide Convention. It was determined that it did not prevent the genocide in Srebrenica nor punish the perpetrators.
