TIRANA, (Patria) - Several thousand Albanians gathered in front of the Albanian Parliament in protests against the current government and demanding early elections.
The protests began at 9 AM, and the first incidents were recorded around 11 AM when a group of demonstrators attempted to enter Parliament. The police then formed a cordon and did not allow entry into Parliament.
Demonstrators carried numerous banners. The State Police sent an invitation to Gazmend Bardhi from DP and called for calm and the removal of demonstrators wearing masks.
"As the organizer of the rally, based on the law on gatherings, take measures to remove them from the rally," the police invitation stated.
Former DP MP, Ervin Salianji, at the protest in front of Parliament, told the media that the demonstrators came out today to restore sovereignty.
"The citizens want to restore sovereignty. If we wanted to enter parliament, we would have entered for two minutes. Tear gas is like candy," Salianji said.
