No queues recorded at the Croatian-Slovenian border after introduction of checks

(Patria) - Checks at the Croatian-Slovenian border began at midnight, meaning the border can no longer be crossed without police presence and any checks, as has been the case for the past almost ten months, since Croatia joined Schengen. Slovenia issued the order with a validity period until October 30.

So far, no queues are forming, police are not asking for documents from most drivers and passengers.
Cars at Bregana/Obrežje no longer pass through the two lanes they used for the past 10 months since Croatia joined Schengen, and on which the Slovenians removed the booths, but traffic is redirected to the right lane, where the old booths for personal document checks are still located. There are two police officers next to the booth.

The new regime at the Croatian-Slovenian border looks like a large number of vehicles are not stopping at all. When stopped by Slovenian police, they mostly just look at who is in the car, and rarely ask for documents, reports Index.

The Office of the Government of Slovenia also has a message for passengers.

"Passengers should adhere to the conditions for crossing the border at designated border crossings, adhere to the changed traffic regime and instructions from police officers, and undergo border checks. To cross the border, they are obliged to show a valid travel document. Therefore, they should check the validity of their travel documents in advance".
