Outplayed Serbia: Slovenia is the new European champion!

One of the best finals in the history of EuroBasket was played in Istanbul tonight, where Slovenia defeated Serbia 93:85. The very end of the match was marked by somewhat more aggressive play by the Serbians, who did not spare the Slovenians.

The beginning of the match saw a basket-for-basket game. The teams alternated in the lead, and Serbia went into the first break with a score of 20:22.

In the second quarter, the Slovenians stepped up their game, driven by the unstoppable Goran Dragić, who finished the first half with 26 points. At times in the second quarter, the Slovenians had a double-digit lead, and they went into halftime with a +9 advantage.

The third quarter brought a higher quality of play from Serbia. The game was played in runs, and Serbia managed to reduce the Slovenian lead to +5.

Slovenia's lead of five to eight points was mostly maintained throughout the last quarter, but the game entered the final minutes tied at 82:82, and we witnessed an exciting finish in which the Slovenian team performed better and won the historic European championship title.

The Slovenians were led to victory by the phenomenal Goran Dragić with 35 points, followed by Klemen Prepelič with 21 points, and in the final moments of the game, Anthony Randolph also played a great role, finishing with 11 points.

For Serbia, Bogdan Bogdanović was the most effective with 22 points, and Milan Mačvan added 18.

Interestingly, the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, was also in the stands of the arena to support Serbia. This time, he did not bring them luck. Otherwise, thousands of fans cheered on their teams from the stands, and after the victory, the Slovenians did not hide their tears of joy.
