Musa: 590 people tested in Federation so far, 33,000 under supervision

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Member of the Crisis Staff and Head of the Epidemiological Service of the Federal Institute for Public Health Sanjin Musa stated in a public address that 65 new samples were tested in the Federation by 12 PM, of which eight were confirmed. 

“Regarding the new confirmed cases, four out of eight are from Konjic, and one each from Mostar, Grude, Goražde, and Sarajevo. A total of 590 people have been tested, and 74 have confirmed coronavirus infections. There are no confirmed cases in Tuzla Canton and Canton 10. Unfortunately, we also have three confirmed deaths,” said Musa.

The highest number of coronavirus infections, 32, was recorded in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, followed by West Herzegovina Canton with 11, Sarajevo Canton with ten, Zenica-Doboj Canton with eight, and Una-Sana with six. Five cases of COVID-19 disease have been confirmed in Bosniak-Podrinje Canton, and one each in Posavina and Central Bosnia.

He added that more than 33,000 people are currently under health supervision, and this number will increase.

“In the 11th week, the first cases were recorded, in the 12th week, two larger and seven smaller clusters were discovered, and in the 13th week, two smaller clusters in KS and ZHK,” added Musa, stating that the virus was imported from Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, and Germany, and that the largest cluster originated from Konjic, with as many as 27 cases.

“We are particularly monitoring screening and triage in all healthcare institutions. We conclude that close and prolonged contact is conducive to infection. All tests are performed according to the definition of a suspicious case, meaning that all individuals linked to countries with increased virus transmission and individuals who have been in contact with infected persons, as well as those with symptoms and respiratory problems and clear clinical pictures, are tested.

He could not precisely answer why politicians who had no symptoms were tested, while a man from Konjic and a deceased woman from Hrasnica were not.

 

He added that he calls on citizens to behave responsibly and to regularly follow the orders of the relevant institutions.
