A 23-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been charged with attempted murder of Croatian police officers. He crossed from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Croatia with a 25-year-old with the intention of stealing wood. As they managed to escape, the Croatian police handed over the criminal charges to the judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will continue the proceedings, writes Index.hr, reports the BH News Agency Patria.
Both were also charged with attempted theft, and the criminal investigation was carried out by officers of the Sisak-Moslavina Police Department in cooperation with the police of the Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sisak-Moslavina police announced today.
It was determined that on July 6, the suspects illegally crossed the state border in a forest near the town of Majdan in the border municipality of Dvor, using tractors, with the intention of stealing and hauling away trees they had cut down and prepared for transport at the end of June.
Police officers found them, and the 25-year-old fled across a mine-suspected area, while the 23-year-old fled with a tractor. When the officers caught up with him and tried to stop him, he drove the tractor towards them, intending to run them over, but then fled into the neighboring country, the statement said.
