(Patria) - The security situation in Zvečan, Leposavić and Zubin Potok was calm on Tuesday morning, the Kosovo police reported, while local Serbs warned earlier today that protests would continue.
“We have no incidents recorded. The police are performing their duties according to their obligations,” said Veton Elshani of the Kosovo Police for Radio Free Europe.
He said police officers are still stationed near the three municipal buildings in northern Kosovo.
Serbian protesters clashed on May 29 in Zvečan with KFOR peacekeeping forces.
At least 25 KFOR members were injured in the clashes, as well as several protesters.
Local Serbs oppose the entry of new Albanian mayors elected in the April 23 elections into the municipalities. They also demand that special units of the Kosovo police withdraw from the north, where Serbs are the majority.
