Minister Kuburović: Serbian Government to provide guarantees for Ratko Mladić

Serbian Minister of Justice Nela Kuburović stated today that the Serbian Government will provide guarantees for the temporary release of Hague indictee Ratko Mladić for treatment in Serbia.

She told reporters at the Palace of Serbia that providing guarantees should soon be on the agenda of a Serbian Government session, Beta reported, NAP conveys. 

"Respecting the request of the family and defence counsel of General Ratko Mladić, the Ministry of Justice has initiated procedures for providing guarantees so that Mladić can be temporarily released for treatment in Serbia," Kuburović said. 

She added that the ministry had previously gathered the necessary opinions on the matter, and that it is not the first time the Serbian Government has provided guarantees for individuals held in custody by the Hague Tribunal. 

"So far, we have respected what was guaranteed. I believe that this time too, the defence counsel and family of General Ratko Mladić will receive a positive response," the minister said.
