Milić: It is unlikely that the Serbian leadership will oppose Dodik

The director of the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies in Belgrade, Jelena Milić, stated that although BiH is miles away from NATO, it will have to reform its security system as part of the EU accession process, reports Patria agency.

- The NATO-Russia relationship in the Balkans is often exaggerated. Russia has much more grounded goals, which are the destabilization and halting of the democratization process of Balkan countries. Although BiH is miles away from NATO, it will have to reform its security system as part of the EU accession process, stated Jelena Milić, director of the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies in Belgrade, in an interview with the Friday edition of Oslobođenje.

Describing the Serbia-Russia-BiH, or rather Republika Srpska, relationship, Milić believes that the Serbian Government unnecessarily exaggerates the Serb issue in Croatia and Montenegro, and the approach towards RS is on the same line.

- However, looking at foreign policy, you will notice that Serbia currently has much better relations with the EU and the USA than Dodik and voters in RS should understand how much more valued Serbia is in the world with these relations. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that the Serbian leadership will oppose Dodik because it is simply an "autopilot" policy, says Milić.
