Milić: Rebel Turkish soldiers look as tame and confused as Bahrudin Baletović in Slovenia '92

Popular Al Jazeera editor Goran Milić said that the soldiers who attempted a military coup in Turkey last night reminded him of the confused JNA soldier Bahrudin Baletović in Slovenia in 1991, who said he did not know what he was fighting for.

- Judging by these footage coming from Turkey that we are watching on Al Jazeera, CNN, RAI, etc., these rebel Turkish soldiers look as tame and confused as Bahrudin Baletović in Slovenia ("actually, I don't know why I'm here") – Milić wrote on his Facebook account.

- They let the police arrest them, walk arrested without resistance and visible hope that someone will help them, allow people to climb onto their tanks, fire into the air and then retreat...
I don't know if the footage is filtered, but based on what we've seen, this coup has no chance – Milić concluded.

Forces loyal to the current government in Turkey have managed to bring the situation under control, after an attempted military coup that part of the Turkish army tried to carry out on the night from Friday to Saturday.

A group of soldiers with tanks and other weapons took to the streets, but the police managed to bring the situation under control a few hours later.

Turkish President Erdogan said that those who attempted to seize power in Turkey in such a manner will be severely punished. Media report that at least 90 people have been killed in Turkey since last night, and more than 1,100 injured, Patria reports.

Many world officials, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of the European Council Donald Tusk, have supported the current government in Turkey and condemned the attempted military coup, Patria reports.
