Milatović condemned Dodik's statement on creating a 'Greater Serbia'

(Patria) - Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović condemned the statement of SNSD and RS leader Milorad Dodik about creating a "state of Serbs".

- It is clear that it was a bad statement which I truly condemn. Montenegro has clearly rounded off its statehood, strongly paved its Euro-Atlantic path.

We look forward to Bosnia and Herzegovina joining this path - said Milatović, responding to a journalist's question during a press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Podgorica.

Let us remind you, Dodik advocated a few days ago for the creation of a unified state of Serbs, which would also include Montenegro.

- We should say now that in this century we want a unified state consisting of Serbia, RS with Kosovo and - if there is such a democratic decision - Montenegro as well - Dodik stated for Russian Sputnik.

The Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted, calling on Dodik to refrain from expansionist and nationalist rhetoric and to behave politically and statesmanlike responsibly, in the spirit of friendly relations between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We remind Dodik that Montenegro is an independent and internationally recognized state, a member of NATO, oriented towards a European future, not retrograde ideas, which live thanks to the nationalist rhetoric and aspirations of certain politicians from the region", stated the Montenegrin MFA.
