(Patria) - Newly elected Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović claims that Montenegro will not withdraw its decision to recognize Kosovo's independence.
- It is not realistic to expect the withdrawal of recognition (of independence) of Kosovo, and that is a very clear matter.
We support everything that Belgrade and Pristina agree on, and I believe that the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina would be significant for all countries in the region - Milatović said in an interview for Nova TV.
In that sense, as he said, Montenegro wants to be a good neighbor that will promote good neighborly relations.
- I want the best possible relations with Serbia, and when I was the Minister of Economic Development, I always focused on that.
Serbia is the largest country in the Western Balkans, and it is completely natural that my visit to Serbia will follow the invitation (of Serbian President Aleksandar) Vučić - said Milatović.
However, he stated that his first visit will be to Brussels because, as he asserted, Montenegro is truly moving towards the EU.
Milatović added that it is important for him that all these visits result in tangible results for citizens and the economy.
