Croatia's SDP has a new-old president, Zoran Milanović, who was voted for by more than 20,000 out of 37,000 SDP members, reports the BH News Agency Patria.
The SDP stated that this is the largest Croatian party and the only party that conducts elections in this manner.
Milanović's opponent was Zlatko Komadina.
The Central Election Commission is still counting votes in the elections where SDP members elected the party president using the "one member – one vote" system, but after counting more than 70 percent of the ballots, Milanović leads with about 60 percent, making surprises impossible.
After the presidential election, an electoral convention will be held in two weeks, where 2,200 delegates will elect the Presidency, vice presidents, and the Main Board of the party.
Milanović thanked everyone for their support on his official Facebook page and wrote:
- No deception, no surrender, thank you all.
