Meteorologist Ristić: Supercell storms with the power of an atomic bomb possible in Serbia

(Patria) - Serbian meteorologist Ivan Ristić said that Serbia expects tropical temperatures in the coming period, but also the danger of supercell storms with enormous power. Experts compare them, he says, to the power of an atomic bomb, and it is impossible to protect oneself from such a storm.

“Globally, this heatwave will last until July 26, and then clouds, rain, and refreshment will follow. When it comes to these supercell storms, as soon as a little fresh air enters the Pannonian Plain after hot days, we can expect these storms to appear. They form when colder air comes near the ground, and in the meantime, there was a lot of warm air there. It starts to rise, and the warmer it is, the greater the chance of a stronger storm. And the tops of these clouds formed by that warm air reach up to 15 kilometers. That's the energy... We can't do anything about it, not even hail protection. The power of an atomic bomb, we can't do anything about it,” claims Ristić.

He also adds that the second peak of the heatwave, called Charon, has begun, and previously it was Lucifer who sent Cerberus.

“It will be very hot and humid until Wednesday. Temperatures will be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. The good news is that it is not expected to exceed 40 degrees. On Wednesday, slightly cooler air will arrive, and that means danger. These supercell storms can be expected again in the Vojvodina region. Most likely, the rain will reach Belgrade during the night. On Thursday, it will be much cooler, with temperatures up to 32 degrees Celsius.”

Ristić points out that next week, both days and nights will be tropical, with night temperatures not dropping below 20 degrees Celsius.
