Mektić: If there was no activity by the Croatian SOA in BiH, what secrets did I reveal?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić stated today at a press conference in Sarajevo that the attitude of the BiH Prosecutor's Office towards him is contradictory, and that the Prosecutor's Office is trying to take revenge on him for his critical stance towards that institution.

"How to explain the fact that a day or two ago they closed the investigation in this case, and then opened an investigation against me for revealing a secret. What secret did I reveal if there is nothing and nothing happened?“, said Mektić. 

The BiH Prosecutor's Office closed the investigation into the case of recruitment of BiH citizens by the Croatian Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA). Media in BiH previously reported that Croatian intelligence officers recruited BiH citizens to transport certain quantities of weapons on the territory of BiH, which could serve as evidence for Croatian authorities that BiH is a hotbed of terrorists, as Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović previously claimed. The BiH Prosecutor's Office assessed that these media reports were not accurate, but the Prosecutor's Office reported that an investigation was opened against Mektić because he revealed a state secret.

Slovenian media also reported on Thursday that the same intelligence officers of the Croatian SOA were wiretapping Slovenian citizens as well. 

Minister Mektić stated that the BiH Prosecutor's Office protects personal interests in everything: „They are not motivated by the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens, but are exclusively driven by the interests of Croatia and to protect the interests of the RS, that is the goal", he said today at a press conference Dragan Mektić.
