Mass arrests in Split

(Patria) - On the second day of the popular Ultra Europe 2023 festival in Split's Park Mladeži, one more person was arrested than on the first day, but 5,000 euros less in fines were collected.

The Split police state that before, during, and after the second gathering, 99 individuals ended up in police stations, of which 73 were foreign nationals. They mostly violated the Law on Combating Drug Abuse, and fines totaling 60,000 euros were issued.

Additionally, two people were arrested on suspicion of unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs. Around midnight last night, police officers from the Drug Crime Service confiscated a total of 142 ecstasy tablets, 1.6 grams of cocaine, and a digital scale for precise measurement from a 31-year-old man in the area of the public gathering.

Besides drug dealing, use, and possession of narcotics, theft also occurred. Six thefts were reported, five of which were audacious. One person was taken to the police station for this reason, and criminal investigations are underway for them, as well as for the 31-year-old dealer.

The police have criminally charged and handed over four foreign nationals, aged between 20 and 24, who are Italian citizens, to the detention supervisor for stealing necklaces from visitors yesterday by ripping them off their necks.

- It has been established that there is a well-founded suspicion that three men jointly committed one count of robbery-theft and eight counts of aggravated theft, while all four together committed one count of robbery-theft. Investigations revealed that during the evening of July 07/08, 2023, at the venue of the public gathering in Split, they damaged ten people by ripping necklaces from their necks. An on-site investigation was conducted, and during a search of the area, police officers found parts of the stolen necklaces in plastic bags at two locations - the police concluded.
