Monastery in Banjska under control of Kosovo police, large quantities of weapons found

(Patria) - The situation in the Banjska monastery is currently calm. Armed individuals who broke into the monastery gate today have been arrested, some were killed, while part of the terrorists are believed to have fled.

„The Diocese of Raška and Prizren informs the public that the situation in the Banjska monastery is currently calm, although fear is still felt due to today's events both in the vicinity and in the monastery courtyard itself,“ the statement reads.

As KoSSev learns, in addition to the Kosovo Police, EULEX is also present in the monastery courtyard.

The Diocese also confirms that the abbot and the brotherhood, as well as a group of pilgrims from Novi Sad, including two minors, are still in the monastery residence. They are all well.

KoSSev also learns that during tomorrow, the police will take statements from all those present in the monastery regarding today's events.

Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs Xelal Svecla confirmed to the media that the territory of the monastery in Banjska is under the control of the Kosovo police.

He said that the group of pilgrims will be carefully checked to rule out any infiltration of terrorists.

He also confirmed that weapons and other necessary supplies were found in the monastery.
