Leskovac: Serbian Army Captain Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Raping Minor Daughter

(Patria) - The Higher Court in Leskovac found Serbian Army Captain S. S. (42) guilty of raping his minor daughter between November 2019 and May 2022 and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

As announced on the court's website, when deciding on the type and measure of punishment, the court took into account numerous aggravating circumstances related to the manner and time of the commission of the criminal offense, the personality of the accused, the lack of empathy, and the severity of the consequences of the criminal offense, finding that there were no mitigating circumstances.

"The court found that only such a sentence can achieve the purpose of punishment, both towards the accused himself as the perpetrator of the criminal offense, and towards other citizens, to refrain from committing such and similar most serious criminal offenses," the court's statement reads.

The public was excluded during the trial and decision-making.
