Lejla Tanović wins UCI C2 race in Belgrade

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ten-time national champion Lejla Tanović is the winner of the UCI C2 race in Belgrade, held at the city recreational area Košutnjak.

After defending her Balkan title for the fourth time in a row last week, Tanović achieved another victory at a UCI race and earned 30 new UCI points.

For the most successful BiH cyclist, this is the third consecutive victory in World Cycling Federation races. The current Balkan champion took the win ahead of Tereza Tvaruzkova, a representative of the Czech Republic, with a lead of a minute and a half, while Vita Movrin, a representative of Slovenia, took third place.

“The course was natural with a change of pace, and I felt very good in training. It rained the night before the race, making the terrain very slippery, which certainly suited me as I often train in such conditions. I am extremely happy with my form and the victories in the last three weekends; I am motivated throughout the year, and the results prove it,” said Lejla Tanović.

After a slow start, Tanović quickly made up lost positions and battled for first place with Tereza Tvaruzkova for the remainder of the race.

“Lejla rode the race very skillfully. The start was quite fast, and there were several crashes. After the first lap, the Czech representative was right behind her, but the race had seven laps, so there was no need for an early attack. In the next two laps, Lejla broke away and continued to ride the race at her own pace. We are very happy with the 90 UCI points we have earned in the last three weeks,” said the coach of the BiH MTB national team, Amar Njemčević.

The next race for our competitor is the national championship in Livno, where Lejla will defend her national champion title.
