Lejla Tanović won second place in a race in Croatia

(Patria) - Ten-time national champion Lejla Tanović and competitor of the professional Brujula Bike Racing Team continued with great results in the new season, winning second place and 40 new UCI points at the UCI C1 race in Vodice. By winning UCI points, competitors collected points for fulfilling the norms for going to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, which attracted a large number of quality professional cyclists. On the technically demanding track, the victory was taken by Italian Seiwald Greta, while the podium was completed by Spielmann Anna from Austria, who won third place.

"Before the race, I felt very good, which gave me additional confidence in such high-quality competition. The start was very strong from the very beginning, however, I followed all the attacks of the other competitors and then rode my own pace. I am very happy with winning second place, but also with earning 40 new UCI points, which will mean a lot for my further progress on the UCI list. April was dedicated to training and preparations for the World Cups, and this result shows that we are on the right track," said Lejla Tanović.

By winning second place in Vodice, Tanović continued her streak of good results in UCI races this season; at the beginning of the year in Spain, she won sixth and third place in UCI races, and at the end of March in Banja Luka, she recorded a victory.

"Lejla showed great confidence and self-assurance with her riding. After the first lap, she was in sixth place behind the Polish rider, after which she started to advance, and by the third lap, she took second place, which she held until the end of the race. By earning 40 new UCI points, Lejla will have the best UCI ranking at the start of the season, where she should take a position around 75th place on the World Cycling list; however, by the end of the season, we have the opportunity to make exceptional progress and enter the top 50 in the world," said MTB national team coach Amar Njemčević at the end.
