Lazović: Statements from Croatia were dangerous for BiH, intelligence activities should be investigated

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Given that certain names are being mentioned and that the Ministry of Security of BiH has released information about the activities of Croatian intelligence officers in BiH, it is clear that this is a serious situation, said SDP Vice President Miro Lazović on the Dnevnik D program of Federal Television.

“This is not an issue that can be taken lightly, and everything should be investigated. I would not prejudge things, but I recall that in the past period, inappropriate and unverified statements have continuously come from Croatia claiming that there are a huge number of Salafis and returnees from the Syrian battlefield in BiH, which poses a danger to BiH,” Lazović believes.

He adds that today's events should not lead to further complications in relations between BiH and Croatia.

“Croatia is a friend of BiH and one of the most significant countries for BiH, and relations in the region certainly depend on the relationship between BiH and Croatia. What Croatia should do is facilitate BiH's path to the European Union, not what we have seen and heard in the European Parliament in recent months, where attempts were made to influence internal relations in BiH,” Lazović added.

Commenting on the gathering of Chetniks in Višegrad, Lazović said that neither within BiH nor in the region is there sufficient readiness to put a stop to such organizations.

“This is a 200-year-old project aimed at creating an ethnically pure Serbia at a time when the world is connecting. With the ideology of the Ravna Gora Chetnik movement, Serbia shows that it has remained stuck in the fascist and criminal ideologies of the 19th century. I fear that a huge number of political structures use these organizations for their own goals, but based on that ideology, Serbia and the Serbian people are the biggest losers,” said Lazović, noting that everyone, especially the Serbian people, will be better off if they rid themselves of these ideologies as soon as possible.

Lazović believes that the forces attacking BiH would be weakened by BiH's approximation and entry into the European Union.

“In that case, these issues will fall away one by one, and BiH will overcome both internal and external opponents,” Lazović opined.

Lazović holds the view that resolving the Kosovo issue will also remove some of the shadows hanging over BiH. He also states that BiH and Serbia have no other path but the EU and NATO.

Commenting on the BH Bloc's abandonment of power, Lazović said that this bloc missed a great opportunity.

“In any case, the BH Bloc is at an advantage because the processes that accompany and await BiH are based on civic principles,” Lazović said.
