Lajčak called on Kosovo to abolish measures imposed on Serbia

(Patria) - Based on the decision of the Government of Kosovo, without special permission, vehicles carrying any Serbian goods cannot enter Kosovo if the accompanying documents do not indicate the Republic of Kosovo.

The Kosovo government discussed amendments to the Decision on Reciprocity at an electronic session and adopted a series of measures that include a ban on importing products from Serbia if the accompanying documents do not indicate the Republic of Kosovo.

As reported by Kosovo media, the Government of Kosovo adopted a decision that in trade relations with Serbia, documents "which do not bear the designation Republic of Kosovo and which are not in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo" will be prohibited.

Also, the government has instructed the Food and Veterinary Agency to use the name and emblem of the Republic of Kosovo on phytosanitary and veterinary certificates. According to the Government's decision, companies from Serbia must obtain an entry permit for every vehicle with goods entering Kosovo, and the permit application is submitted to the Kosovo Liaison Office in Serbia, by letter or email.

On March 31, the Government of Kosovo made a decision on the gradual implementation of "reciprocity" as a principle in relations with Serbia.

Miroslav Lajčak, the EU Special Representative for the Serbia-Kosovo Dialogue, also reacted to this decision by Kosovo, stating on Twitter that he was disappointed with the new reciprocity measures.

"Such unilateral moves undermine the dialogue and should be withdrawn immediately. We expect both sides in the dialogue to implement and respect previous agreements," said Lajčak.
