Kurti: Serbia wants to return to the Milošević era

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti commented via his Facebook profile on the events in northern Kosovo, where tensions have been heightened in recent days due to Pristina's desire to establish order and the resistance of the local Serb population.

"Serbia has been threatening aggression against Kosovo for several days. The President and Prime Minister of Serbia are calling for the return of the Serbian army to Kosovo, for the return of a thousand soldiers, citing UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999," Kurti wrote regarding the announcement by Serbian authorities that they would address KFOR and request permission to deploy their soldiers and police in Kosovo.

"They want a double return. First, to return to the time of Milošević (former President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Slobodan) and the war. Second, to return the Kosovo issue to the UN and as far away from the EU as possible," Kurti added.

Kurti believes this is Belgrade's reaction to the European Union's proposal for the normalization of relations between the two sides, which is supported by France, Germany, and the US.

"They want to return to the United Nations Security Council, where the veto of Russia and China is located," Kurti wrote.

The Kosovo Prime Minister then called on the United States and the European Union to condemn what he called "organized violence" and assessed that any other action would "encourage official Belgrade to further fuel the destabilization of Kosovo.".

"Kosovo is a European, democratic, and pro-American country. With this leadership, Serbia is autocratic, pro-Asian, and warmongering. We do not want conflict, we want peace and progress, but we will respond to aggression with all the strength we have," Kurti wrote.

"Kosovo is a land of free citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or age. Criminals and Russophiles will fail. The Republic of Kosovo will win," Kurti added.
